Nothing should go in the way of relaxing - this principle has been kept from the days when farmers worked hard from early morning until late at night and had to recover their strength quickly. Farmhouse-style bedrooms are surprisingly simple: often, they have a large comfortable bed with wrought-iron headboards, a high wooden headboard or with attractive old-fashioned supports, and a single bedside table, which is frequently replaced by a table. Lighting is provided by a banquette or wicker box at the foot of the bed, monochromatic light curtains put on the windows, sconces, and a required chandelier.

A "clean" Farmhouse allows for spartan bedroom design, yet today this guideline is mocked, with cherished flowers and trinkets placed on the room's nightstand for added comfort.
